Cavalry was redundant at the end of the XIXth but no one had the courage to tell them… Magnificent example of a good conversion and painting job.

Fascination with Toy Soldiers is a mild disease I guess…

A much neglected piece in many collections of Toy Soldiers… this is a lovely example.

Probably Howard Whitehouse but not sure… took it from Facebook!… those are painted “old Britain’s style” and are “my piece of cake”. Enjoy

For a lot of us collectors this is one of the goals or objectives… to be able to field an Army of Toy Soldiers… everything is there: Artillery, Infantry and Cavalry… and even some “civilians”. You need all sorts as I usually say. Enjoy.

A bit of fun today! This picture seen in Facebook made me laugh and that is a good thing… I do not indulge in much humour myself in connexion with the hobby but those are excellent archetypes of caricature. You will excuse their introduction here… now… what about some drinks in the mess?

Spring is in the air… Cole Porter’s songs go around my head (I am more of a Beatles fan you know… that was my generation)… because I love nearly ALL music… but frankly the Swiss Guard is pertinent as a line for “Let’s fall in love”… …/.. even the Pope’s do it …/… I do not mean Pope’s collect Toy Soldiers (I do not know at all THAT)… but they have probably the most archaic guards uniforms around… and I would not mess with Swiss Guards… they have proved their Swiss Contract Loyalty dying to a man in several ocasions over the centuries…(probably one of the oldest serving units around) so do not confuse REAL LIFE with HOBBY LIFE… I am at pains to keep them separate at all times… Simply enjoy!

Not everyone has a collection of them (meaning Britain’s hollow cast), me neither… I had a big box of Coldstream Guards when a child and fortunate I was of having it!
Today the best way to complete your collection or start a new one if that is your taste in 54mm is going for REPLICA (Andrew Stevenson)… I guess this summer he will have completed his move to a new home and quarters… and able to produce sets again. I wish him the best of luck!
