Strangely enough I do not have a single 54MM Toy Soldier figure myself in my collection.
I have a Military Modeling one in 54MM (John Wayne in USA Cavalry uniform… but it can be a much later period… aka Indian Wars 1876… She Wore a Yellow Ribbon like… but could have been THE HORSE SOLDIERS with a black hat too! I think I have already shown that pic several times so…

Probably one of my longest affair with 54MM Toy Soldiers. I wanted to do Nathan Brittles patrol (SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON – John Ford film)… I know I have done it in 6MM… but those are different efforts.
Finally got some weeks ago the casts from REPLICA (Andrew Stevenson)… then I waited for some pistol holsters from DORSET, meanwhile I was cleaning the casts of bits here and there… and gluing the two part kits of horses together… yes… superglue again.
The more difficult model was the troop standard bearer (guidon), Andrew supplied a lancers arm (quite nice on its own I have them on the 9th British Lancers at Kandahar) but it was not what I had in mind… luckily I never throw away discarded parts… so I had a very promissing lance from DUCAL Life Guards I converted to sword carriyng troopers… a bit of paint…
And then an arm (it is a left arm glued as a right arm and would need a bit of putty to disguise the fact)… I was able today of drilling a hole in the hand to receive the guidon… and then I glued all the parts to the body and the horse (it still lacks pistol holster and head).
Was not easy… and I am quite satisfied with my work… so until I finish assembling and painting them… quite a long process because I can do this just an hour a day (and not every day) you will have to wait for more Posts and pics…

Great for a change!
I knew he was building an Austrian Army… but the result is magnificent!… now if those pesky Prussians come against them I fear they will lose order, life and limb!

It was one of those crazy things… I have never played a game by the rules A GENTLEMAN’S WAR by Howard Whitehouse… not I intent to… but I finally fall for the units organization (one never knows).
So, here they are… finally 24 Infantry models + Brigade Commander or whatecer is my fancy…

I added those casts as an afterthought to my order and have been painting them on and off while doing other things.
They look more Military Modeling than I thought… my intention was to use them as Toy Soldiers… but I do not know… the casts are truly excellent… practically they painted themselves!… such detail for a 54MM… what you find at default is probably my painting job…
Now… to gloss varnish or not… that is the question! (Finally did varnish them)

You know I am not a real fan of Artillery… but what Trooping of the Colour Ceremonial is without them… so once again I dutifully collected.
They do those salvoes in Hyde Park etc.
Really nice models if you ask me.

Now that was risky (the Colours Native Officer and RSM) were added three years later.
Not exactly exactly exactly the same tones on the faces and the kakhi uniform but absolutely satisfied by the result (now I have two units of 12 figures) Incidentally I misplaced the order of the Colours on the pic… Regimental Colour should be on the left!… forgive me.

In another Post I showed “MY” Royal West Kent Regiment… in fact the Post was not complete because it did not showed the more “action” minis of the Regiment… so… here you have them (painted by me).
They are TRADITION OF LONDON Rifles painted as RWK, and some original to help the composition. The Wagon is from RPWORLD MODELS.
On the lower shelf some medical corps minis including nurses and police officers and “bobbies”… the only “civilians” in my collection… Holmes&Watson + Lestrade + Hansom cab (Some Tradition of London… some RPWORLD MODELS).
At the end of the Post see some minis and river boat pics I found on Facebook!… great pics of other collectors passions.

It is funny how I replicated my sold collection of 25MM MINIFIGS in 54MM with time.
As you know I went 6MM wargaming after a deep crisis about numbers&table space concerning 25/28MM… old news for the old reader of this posts.
Then Nostalgia struck and I bought (slowly but firmly) the minis I used to had because I missed them!… not even a childhood nostalgia… just the silly fact that I should not have had to sell them at all and simply kept them in cabinets… LOL
For those who need to know they are mainly RPWORLD MODELS; TRADITION OF LONDON; and General Wolseley is a damn fine REPLICA mini made to order by Andrew Stevenson.
