28mm nappies painted to perfection (as seen in Facebook)

I know, I know, I know… a lot of Napoleonic stuff lately… after wargaming the period obsessively for thirty years it is quite normal to have a soft spot for those minis… In a way my own painting of them (mine can be seen under Waterloo or Napoleons posts in this web page) was much more an approach a bit more detailed than a traditional Toy Soldier (Think Britain’s 54mm) but never did I achieve that detail!… my bases were plain green (green grass with a bit of flock) and never painted eyes on them!… Those here today are simply superb! and shows that 25/28mm has the potential of been “Collecting stuff of the first order” due to the sheer quality of the casts… and the skills of the painters. Enjoy.

Not Napoleonic (for a change!)

The Sport of Kings (as seen in Facebook)

I’ve been seeing a lot of nice Napoleonic stuff lately in Facebook, but thought it would be nice to show something different today. The Charles Grant (father&son) approach of the tricorne period was always appealing to me (not that this pic is related to them…). Charles Grant III is more WWII oriented I think…

Well, once I get home from this extended leave posts would be more profesional… not that it matters much… but I would be able to do it with my normal computer instead of the “mobile one”…

I do not think they are 15mm but all is posible nowadays (seen in Facebook)

ACW in large scale (at least they look like 25/28mm to me) is better suited to big tables and multiplayer wargaming. I am all for it… but as you know I live on the back of beyond… so it is solo wargaming in 6mm for me!

Military Modeling paradigma… as seen in Facebook

Bill Horan does it better… than me and probably you… he is in a class of his own… I can remember when buying (long long ago) my copies of the magazine Military Modeling I was treated to examples of his craftsmanship or artwork… starting with a little mesh of bended wires etc.

Take this post for what it is, a “hats off” to his contribution to the Hobby. Never have I even intended to step on his footsteps (I know my limits)… and there are less then a dozen pieces in my modest collection that you can consider “pure” Military Modeling (see Posts about that in this web page to see the pics).

Simply awesome! (just look at the tartan trews paintwork…)

Awesome ACW wargames table (or scenery)

Vastly superior to anything I ever tried on that field… seen in Facebook… Congratulations!

I am first and foremost a collector of Toy Soldiers (of course that includes wargames minis)… terrain has never been my forte… rather schematic I am (you need all sorts…)… see Napoleon or Waterloo Posts in this same web page or Blog and you will see what I mean… not landscaping for me (I did that as a job also so in a way it is probably easy to understand why I did not wanted to get too much involved in this side of the hobby… and of course also a matter of priorities I always chose to buy more “toy soldiers”… MY priorities…

Cheers.

Just a pic of 25/28mm

Cover pic of a web page in Facebook… rather good if you ask me.

Ancients is a period I have played in a few occasions due to my initial introduction to the hobby (METAURO – GREAT BATTLES OF THE WORLD), experienced wargamers tend to use metal spears (or sarissas for that matter) instead of lead alloys to avoid bending and eventually broken “things”. This pic is a fine example of that practice.
